Fun matches are practice sessions to help dogs prepare for the obedience/rally ring. All the dogs are at many stages
of their training. Handlers want to "take it on the road" to test the dog's understanding of the excerises.
I entered Ted in the Open and Utility classes to see how he would do. I have alot to relearn and think about! Ted actually
did much better than I thought. He retrieved on flat, retrieved over the high jump (even though I threw the dumbell wrong),
the down on recall needs alot of work! The scent discrimination with metal article was fantasic (I thought). I used the wrong
arm to mark the go out. Ted looked at me funny but started out anyway and retreived the number 2 glove. Nothing is perfect
but this gives me encouragement to keep plugging away with the heeling - boring!

I entered Ted in Standards Level 1. Ted was so fast for the first 5 obstacles. Then he missed a jump and then
another. I decided not to have him redo the jumps so we did not qualify that run. I entered in Snooker and he missed
jumps and I had him do them over again. We came in before the buzzer but were still 9 seconds over so again NQ. Wildcard was
very challenging for me. Ted started out good but then got distracted and ran over to the ring gate to see. Again NQ. We are
working towards the CPE show in December at Pawsitive Partners!

Ted qualified
4 times with a second, third and fourth placements. I really enjoyed this venu. I am in the process of planning an event for
my area.
